Football Academy FAQ

For non LJBC students: Entry into the Academy is through a Football trial process, interviews and school reports.
For current LJBC students: Entry into the Academy is through the LJBC Football Development Program.
LJBC Football Academy trials take place in Week 9 and 10 of Term 2 each year, on the LJBC Football Academy Pitches (Western Oval).
The trial process runs over two days and consists of a technical warm up, passing practice, positioning game, 1v1-2v2 attacking/defending and small sided games. Goalkeepers who are successful in trials will be invited to be assessed by the Academy Goalkeeper coach in a goalkeeper specific session. Please note: Due to the large number of trialists the coaching staff will be unable to provide individual feedback on your child/children.
Current LJBC and Perth Glory FC Academy Coaches who have been specially selected for their expertise in working with players from this age group.
Parents/Legal Guardians will be notified at the end of the open trials (Week 9) via email if they are required to attend further trial dates in Week 10.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior the scheduled start time of the trial.
They need to be ready with appropriate footballing attire (shirt, short, socks) boots, shin pads and a bottle of water.
They should look for the shade shelter on the Western Oval and approach the registration table to confirm their attendance. The LJBC and Perth Glory coaching staff will then issue them with a numbered bib.
No, the coaching staff will look after all potential players.
Yes, but outside the perimeter of the fence of the Western Oval. Please keep your distance from the playing group as the trials are a technical process for staff and players only.
The trial days/times will be confirmed once trial registration closes (end of Week 7).
We would encourage trialists to attend both sessions to ensure a full assessment and minimise any external influences on performance (such as nervousness, anxiety, unfamiliar surroundings/teammates, etc). However, if they can only attend one session, a decision will be made on the player during that time.
Parents/Legal Guardians will be contacted via email. Please note that places may not be available; however, once Registered, the child will be added to our waitlist.
